Conferences
for the 2011-2012 Season is set with one week to go until the opening
of the College Football Season.
The
Sooners are Number One!!!!!!
Oklahoma
is #1 with Alabama #2.....
With
the Season one week away we start to see who can go through their respective
Super Conferences unscathed and into the playoffs with a chance to get
to the Final Four and ultimately the National Championship Game. The
Defending National Champions the Alabama Crimson Tide start the season
#2 in the Nation. Number one goes to the Oklahoma Sooners with a furocious
Offense and an experienced Defense they are the heavy favorites in the
Big 12.
Big
12 Preview
In
the Big 12 North Oklahoma looks to not have any real threats except
for Oklahoma State, as they begin the season 7th in the country. The
North title may come down to bedlem at the end of the season. Missouri
starts the season at #23. The two newcombers in the conferece are SMU,
and UTEP as they will probably have a rude awakening as they experience
life inside a BCS Conference. The Big 12 South Has a little bit more
questions inside it as Texas A&M, and Texas are only two of three
teams inside the preseason Top 25 but I think Texas has problems and
may struggle this year and Texas A&M; This will be the first year
in a while that they are expected to do something. A end of the season
battle between Texas and Texas A&M maybe for the South Crown. But
the new team that is making all the headlines is TCU and in my opinion
the favorite to win the Big 12 title this year. I think that they have
been waiting to be apart of the BCS and now that they are they will
take advantage of it. By year's end I think we will see a Oklahoma vs.
TCU matchup in the Conference Championship Game and I see Oklahoma quite
possibly being undefeated at this point winning the game and heading
to the playoff with a lot of momentum.
ACC
Preview
The
ACC lost four of it's best programs to the ACC in the off season, but
gained 8 others. Cincinnati, UConn, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, West
Virginia, Louisville, and South Florida join up to have a true North
South feel to this conference. The defending Conference Champion is
Virginia Tech as they move into the North with the old Big East foes.
Virginia Tech starts the season PreSeason #17 and if you want the ACC
Title you must go through Blacksburg. The ACC as a whole only has two
teams in the PreSeason Top 25 but as the season goes I think will get
more into the Top 25. Pittsburgh, and West Virginia are the two main
threats to Virginia Tech but I believe the Hokies will come out of the
North. In the South it could go anywhere. Most of the old guard in the
ACC patrol this conference with the Carolina schools, Virginia, and
Maryland in it with the two newcomers Louisville, and South Florida.
I think Maryland is the sleeper here and will come out of the South
to face the Hokies in the Championship Game. I do however see Virginia
Tech coming out of the ACC Champions.
Big 10 Preview
The
Big Ten finally does something that they have tried to do for years
an that's finally land Notre Dame. The Irish finally signed the papers
to become a member of the Big Ten conference thus giving the Big Ten
another powerhouse football program in it's mits. Legendary programs
also come aboard as the Big Ten arguably gets the biggest rivalry in
all of College Football in Army, and Navy. Neither are predicted to
challenge for a conference title but having this history there means
more to the Big Ten then have good football teams. The last team brought
into this Super conference is the Miami (Ohio) Rehawks. The defending
MAC Champions look to make their first trip into the BCS a memorable
one. Indianapolis will be the home of the first ever Big Ten Championship
Game. As for who could be there is up in the air. Maybe the most wide
open conference there is. With the off the field problems at Ohio State
can they shake the off field cob webs or will someone else rise up to
dethrone the Buckeyes. The North is pretty much there for the taking
for Ohio State and I think they will come out East Champions. The west
is a four team race, Notre Dame, Iowa, Nebraska, and last season's Regular
Season #1 team Wisconsin Badgers all have cases for number one in the
West. In the end I think Wisconsin will come out as Champions and in
the Championship Game I see Wisconsin knocking off the Buckeyes to win
the Big Ten Championship for the second consecutive season, in their
qwest to try and get back to the Final Four and further.
